Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993, in Boca Raton, Florida, to parents Joan Grande and Edward Butera. From a young age, she displayed a passion for performing and participating in community theater and school productions. By age eight, she was already performing at karaoke lounges, and by ten, she was part of a local theater group called Kids Who Care. Raised in a family that supported her creative pursuits, Grande’s strong vocal abilities emerged early. She honed her voice by singing along to classic R&B and pop tracks, idolizing icons like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, who influenced her powerful vocal style.

Her first breakthrough came at age 15 when she landed the role of Charlotte in the Broadway musical 13, a coming-of-age show about adolescence. Performing on Broadway exposed Grande to a professional stage environment, cementing her aspirations in entertainment. This early experience showcased her talent and gave her a foothold in the industry, laying the groundwork for her eventual transition to television.

Grande’s big break in television came in 2009 when she was cast as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, a musical comedy series created by Dan Schneider. Her character was known for her bubbly personality and high-pitched voice, which resonated with young audiences and quickly made her a fan favorite. While Victorious wasn’t directly centered around Grande, her character’s quirky charm and comedic timing stood out. The series ran from 2010 to 2013, during which Grande became a popular teen star.

Following Victorious, Nickelodeon created Sam & Cat, a spin-off where she reprised her role as Cat alongside Jennette McCurdy’s Sam Puckett from iCarly. While the show only lasted one season due to production conflicts and Grande’s emerging music career, it further solidified her status as a teen star. By the time Sam & Cat ended in 2014, Grande was ready to pivot to her true passion—music.
