Boyd Dowler is a former American football player best known for his time as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL), where he played for the Green Bay Packers. Born on January 8, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, Dowler had a standout career in college before making his mark in professional football. He played college football at the University of Colorado, where he excelled as a receiver, leading to his selection by the Packers in the 1961 NFL Draft.
Dowler played for the Packers from 1961 to 1969, during one of the most successful periods in the franchise’s history. He was part of the Packers’ championship teams under coach Vince Lombardi, contributing significantly to their victories in the 1966 and 1967 NFL Championships, which included the first two Super Bowl victories (Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II). Dowler was known for his speed, excellent hands, and ability to make big plays when it mattered most.
He finished his career with a total of 5, 140 receiving yards and 40 touchdowns. After retiring from professional football, Dowler remained involved in the Packers community, contributing to various events and sports-related activities. He was later inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the team.
