Bryce Dallas Howard, born March 2, 1981, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress, director, producer, and writer. She is the daughter of acclaimed actor and filmmaker Ron Howard and writer Cheryl Howard. Growing up in a family rooted in the entertainment industry, Bryce had early exposure to film and acting, yet her parents encouraged her to pursue other interests before committing to a career in Hollywood.
She attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied drama and graduated in 2003. During her time at NYU, Bryce performed in several stage productions and honed her craft, developing a strong foundation in theater before making her way into film. Her early professional career included appearances in notable productions by the Public Theater, including roles in Shakespearean plays like As You Like It, where her portrayal caught the attention of director M. Night Shyamalan. This eventually led to her breakthrough film role in Shyamalan’s The Village (2004), marking her entrance into Hollywood with a unique, ethereal presence and skill that resonated with audiences.
