Camila Cabello is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, and actress, known for her breakout success as a solo artist and as a former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. Born on March 3, 1997, in Havana, Cuba, Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao grew up in a musical family. She moved to the United States with her mother at the age of six, settling in Miami, Florida, where her passion for music began to take shape. Over time, Cabello developed a deep love for pop, rock, and Latin music, and her early influences included artists like Shakira, Beyoncé, and Alejandro Sanz.
Cabello’s journey to fame began in 2012 when she auditioned for the second season of the American version of The X Factor. While Cabello was eliminated as a solo artist, she was brought back and ultimately became a member of Fifth Harmony, a girl group formed by Simon Cowell, the show’s creator and judge. The group quickly gained a following, and although they didn’t win the competition, Fifth Harmony’s strong performances and unique sound caught the attention of record labels. In 2013, Fifth Harmony signed with Epic Records, and their debut EP Better Together was released in October of that year.
Fifth Harmony went on to become one of the most successful girl groups of the 2010s, achieving commercial success with songs like Worth It, BO$$, and Work from Home. Their debut full-length album, Reflection (2015), produced hits like Sledgehammer and Like Mariah, while their sophomore album, 7/27 (2016), saw further success with tracks like All in My Head (Flex) and Work from Home. Cabello’s contributions to the group’s success were significant, particularly with her distinctive voice and engaging performances. However, in December 2016, Cabello decided to leave Fifth Harmony, citing a desire to pursue a solo career.
