Famous for his unique designs and interesting web material, American designer, artist, and fabricator Jimmy Diresta has many admirers. Diresta came from an artistic family in New York City, where he was born on April 3, 1967. Early on, Jimmy drew inspiration for his love of handiwork from his father, who had a wealth of knowledge in construction and carpentry.

Diresta received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990 from New York City’s School of Visual Arts, among other places of higher learning. His extensive background in art and design provided a strong foundation for his diverse career. It was Jimmy’s television performances that first brought him widespread fame. “Trash to Cash,” which premiered on FX Network in 2003, was one of his early television appearances.

His skill at repurposing found materials into something new and beautiful was fully displayed in this collection. Shows like HGTV’s “Hammered with John & Jimmy DiResta” and DIY Network’s “Against the Grain” featured them afterward. His versatility as a craftsman, shown in these exhibitions by the unique, one-of-a-kind objects he designed that fused form and function, was on full display.
