Judson Earney Scott is an American actor known for his roles in science fiction and action television series, as well as his work in films. Born on July 15, 1952, in Azuza, California, Scott was drawn to acting early in life and pursued a formal education in theater, graduating from California State University, Fullerton. Known for his intense screen presence and distinctive looks, Scott has often been cast in memorable roles that draw upon his charisma and range, allowing him to leave a lasting impression on audiences despite sometimes limited screen time.
Scott’s breakthrough role came in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, where he played Joachim, the loyal right-hand man of the film’s iconic villain, Khan Noonien Singh, portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán. Although his role was intended to be larger, several of his scenes were edited down, and his name was omitted from the credits due to a dispute. However, the performance still brought him significant recognition within the Star Trek fandom, and his character, despite being a secondary role, became one of the most memorable from the film. Scott’s portrayal of Joachim showcased his ability to create depth in a character and established him as a popular figure in the sci-fi genre.
Following his role in Star Trek, Scott made numerous appearances on popular TV shows, often within the science fiction and action genres. He appeared in The Phoenix (1982), a short-lived TV series in which he played the lead role of Bennu, an alien with superhuman abilities who awakens on Earth to fulfill a mystical destiny. Though The Phoenix ran for only a few episodes, it gathered a cult following, with Scott’s performance as the wise and compassionate Bennu resonating with fans. His other television work includes guest roles on hit series such as The X-Files, The A-Team, Knight Rider, V, Voyagers!, Babylon 5, MacGyver, and Sliders, solidifying his reputation as a versatile actor within genre television.
