Kirk Cousins is a professional American football quarterback known for his consistent and efficient play, particularly with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). Born on August 19, 1988, in Barrington, Illinois, Cousins was raised in a sports-oriented family, which laid the foundation for his athletic career. After moving to Michigan, Cousins attended Holland Christian High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. His outstanding high school football performance earned him attention from colleges, and he eventually committed to play for Michigan State University, where he would make a lasting impact.

At Michigan State, Cousins demonstrated his leadership qualities and football acumen, becoming the starting quarterback in his sophomore season. Over his college career, he set multiple school records, including passing yards and completions. His consistent play and sportsmanship earned him a reputation as a skilled quarterback and leader. By his senior year in 2011, he led Michigan State to a 11–3 record and a win over Georgia in the Outback Bowl, further solidifying his position as a promising quarterback prospect for the NFL.

Cousins entered the NFL in 2012 when he was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round. Although initially a backup to Robert Griffin III, Cousins made the most of his opportunities when called upon, and by 2015, he became Washington’s full-time starter. That season, Cousins had a breakout year, leading the NFL in completion percentage and helping the team win the NFC East. His impressive performance earned him the franchise tag for the 2016 season and then again in 2017, making him one of the first players to be tagged consecutively. During his tenure with Washington, Cousins broke several franchise records, including single-season passing yards and completions, but the team and Cousins couldn’t come to a long-term agreement, prompting his eventual free agency.
