Leeds United Football Club is a professional football club based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Founded on October 17, 1919, following the disbandment of Leeds City FC due to financial irregularities, Leeds United quickly rose to become one of the most storied clubs in English football. The team plays its home games at Elland Road, a historic stadium with a capacity of approximately 37,000, which has been their home since the club’s inception.
Leeds United joined the Football League in 1920 and initially fluctuated between divisions. The club’s fortunes began to change after the appointment of manager Don Revie in 1961. Under Revie’s management, Leeds transformed from a struggling Second Division side into one of the most dominant teams of the 1960s and 1970s. Revie’s era is widely regarded as the club’s golden age.
During Revie’s tenure, Leeds United became known for their tactical brilliance, teamwork, and a fierce competitive spit. Key players like Billy Bremner, Jack Charlton, Peter Lorimer, and Norman Hunter formed the core of a formidable team.
