The band consists of four talented members: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. The origins of Little Big Town can be traced back to Nashville, Tennessee, where Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook first met while working as songwriters. They soon teamed up with Phillip Sweet and Kimberly Schlapman, who had also been pursuing music careers. The group officially formed in 1998, and their name, “Little Big Town,” was inspired by a small-town feel and the community spirit found in rural America.
Initially, Little Big Town faced challenges in the highly competitive Nashville music scene. They signed with the independent label, Mercury Nashville Records, and released their self-titled debut album in 2003. The album featured the single “Fishin’ in the Dark,” which garnered attention but did not achieve significant commercial success. However, their blend of country, pop, and rock influences began to attract a dedicated fan base.
