Martha Plimpton is an American actor and singer who is celebrated for her versatility across stage, screen, and television. She is the product of an artistic family and was born on November 16, 1970, in the Big Apple. Keith Carradine is a famous actor and musician, and her mother Shelley Plimpton was an accomplished singer and actress. The legendary actor John Carradine is Plimpton’s grandpa on his father’s side.

Plimpton began her profession at a young age; she began modeling when she was 10 years old and quickly moved on to acting. Her first cinematic appearance was in the 1981 indie flick “Rollover.” But her turn as Stef Steinbrenner in the 1985 cult classic adventure picture “The Goonies” solidified her position as a young prodigy, and her 1984 feature “The River Rat” brought her much more notoriety.

Playing the role of Lorna Phillips in the 1988 film “Running on Empty” garnered Plimpton critical praise and a nomination for a Young Artist Award, among other significant performances in her stellar career from the 1980s and 1990s. In addition to “Beautiful Girls” (1996), “Stanley & Iris” (1990), and “Parenthood” (1989), she has acting credits.

Aside from her work in films, Plimpton has also achieved great success in television.
