Matthew Willig was born on July 21, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in a family that valued hard work and dedication. Willig attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he played college football as an offensive tackle for the USC Trojans. His time at USC not only honed his athletic skills but also instilled in him the discipline and teamwork that would serve him well in both sports and acting.
After college, Willig pursued a professional football career. He was selected in the fourth round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Over his five-year professional football career, Willig played for several teams, including the New York Jets (1992-1993), the Washington Redskins (1994), and the Atlanta Falcons (1995).
He was known for his imposing stature at 6 feet 8 inches tall and weighing over 300 pounds, making him a formidable presence on the field.
