Roman Reigns, born Leati Joseph Anoaʻi on May 25, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida, is a professional wrestler, actor, and former American football player. Widely regarded as one of the biggest stars in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Reigns has achieved significant success as a multi-time world champion and a prominent figure in the wrestling industry. Known for his imposing physique, charisma, and exceptional in-ring skills, he has captivated audiences and has become a key player in WWE’s programming.

Roman Reigns hails from a storied wrestling family. He is a member of the Anoaʻi family, a renowned lineage in professional wrestling that includes legends like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Rikishi, and the late Umaga. His father, Sika Anoaʻi, was one-half of the famous tag team The Wild Samoans, while his mother, Patricia, has Samoan heritage. Growing up in a wrestling family, Reigns was exposed to the world of sports entertainment from a young age, often attending wrestling events and training sessions with his father.

Reigns attended Escambia High School in Pensacola, where he excelled in football and was recognized as a standout athlete. After graduating in 2003, he went on to play college football at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a defensive tackle for the Yellow Jackets. Following his college career, Reigns was signed by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007 as an undrafted free agent but was released before the start of the season. He later played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in their practice squad.

Reigns transitioned from football to professional wrestling, training at the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) developmental territory, which was WWE’s training ground. He debuted in FCW in 2010 under the ring name “Roman Leakee.” In 2012, he adopted the ring name Roman Reigns and made his debut on WWE television as part of the faction The Shield, alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The Shield quickly gained popularity for their unique style, and their matches against established stars helped elevate their status in the company.
