Sidney Kibrick is a former American child actor best known for his memorable role as “The Woim” in the iconic Our Gang film series, also known as The Little Rascals. Born on July 2, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kibrick grew up in Los Angeles, California, where he became involved in the film industry at an early age. His work in Our Gang made him one of the cherished faces of early American cinema, and he remains fondly remembered by fans of classic film comedy.

Kibrick’s entry into Hollywood came serendipitously when he followed his older brother, Leonard Kibrick, who was already acting in the Our Gang series. Leonard played the role of the neighborhood bully “Butch,” and Sidney later joined the cast in a complementary role as “The Woim,” Butch’s loyal sidekick and partner in mischief. Though a smaller character compared to some of the series’ main stars, “The Woim” became a memorable figure due to his mischievous antics, frequent conflicts with the gang, and comic rapport with Butch. The chemistry between the two brothers on-screen was undeniable, and their characters’ mischief provided a humorous counterbalance to the innocence of the other gang members.

The Our Gang series, produced by Hal Roach, was incredibly popular in the 1930s and 1940s. It portrayed a group of diverse neighborhood kids navigating humorous adventures and challenges in a lighthearted, relatable way. Kibrick’s role in Our Gang films included standout appearances in films such as Our Gang Follies of 1938, Came the Brawn (1938), and Clown Princes (1939). His performances, though brief in many of these shorts, were memorable and helped cement his place in Hollywood’s early comedy scene. The Woim’s iconic line, “Right, Butch?” became a catchphrase of sorts, and his expressions and mannerisms were often as funny as the lines themselves.
