Toby Keith Covel, born July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma, is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. Known for his powerful voice and patriotic themes, he’s one of the most successful country artists, with numerous chart-topping hits and albums.

Keith grew up in Moore, Oklahoma, and was inspired to pursue music by his grandmother, who owned a supper club where he performed as a teenager. After high school, he briefly worked in the oil industry while continuing to play music locally. His big break came in 1993 with his debut single, Should’ve Been a Cowboy, which became the most-played country song of the 1990s. His self-titled debut album followed, launching him as a rising star.

Throughout the late ’90s and early 2000s, Keith released several multi-platinum albums, including Boomtown (1994), Blue Moon (1996), and Dream Walkin’ (1997). His bold, unapologetic style reached new heights with the 2002 single Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American), written in response to the 9/11 attacks. The song’s patriotic tone resonated deeply, becoming one of his signature hits, earning him a passionate fanbase.

In addition to music, Keith is known for his ventures into business, including establishing his restaurant chain, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill. He’s also acted in films like Broken Bridges (2006) and Beer for My Horses (2008), which he co-wrote.
