Tonga ‘Uli’uli Fifita, born on February 3, 1959, in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, is a retired professional wrestler best known by his ring names “Haku” in WWE (then WWF) and “Meng” in WCW. Recognized for his incredible strength, tenacity, and fighting spirit, Fifita is often hailed as one of the toughest men in wrestling history. Over a career spanning nearly three decades, he became a legendary figure in the wrestling world, celebrated for his physical prowess, unique persona, and unshakeable loyalty to his Tongan heritage.

Fifita’s journey to wrestling began far from the sport itself. Growing up in Tonga, he was a member of the Tongan royal family and even trained in sumo wrestling in Japan, where he went by the name Fukunoshima. However, his sumo career was short-lived due to his dissatisfaction with the hierarchical demands of the sport. While in Japan, Fifita was introduced to wrestling by fellow wrestler and friend Hiro Matsuda, who saw his potential as a powerful and formidable figure in the ring. This encounter set him on a path to becoming one of wrestling’s most feared competitors.

In the early 1980s, Fifita moved to North America, where he began his career with various wrestling promotions. He initially gained attention as “Tonga” in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Canada, where he honed his skills and earned a reputation as a fearsome competitor. His skills and presence caught the eye of WWE, and he joined the promotion in 1986, debuting under the name “King Tonga” and soon becoming one of the most physically intimidating wrestlers in the organization. His intense style and authentic portrayal of a fierce warrior quickly endeared him to fans and earned him the respect of his peers.
