Jacques Berman Webster II, widely known as Travis Scott, was born on April 30, 1991, in Houston, Texas. He spent his early years in South Park, a neighborhood characterized by its vibrant culture and challenging socioeconomic conditions. Raised primarily by his grandmother, Scott was exposed to a variety of musical influences, ranging from hip-hop and R&B to rock and pop. His father was a music producer, while his mother worked for Apple, instilling a love for creativity and innovation in Scott from an early age.
Scott attended Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, where he began to develop an interest in music. He later enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio but dropped out to pursue his passion for music full-time. This decision proved to be pivotal as Scott began to take his music career seriously, producing and recording in local studios.
Travis Scott’s musical journey began in earnest in the late 2000s when he started collaborating with fellow artists and producers in Houston. He released his first project, a mixtape titled Owl Pharaoh, in 2013. Though it faced numerous delays, the mixtape showcased Scott’s unique sound, blending elements of hip-hop, psychedelic, and trap music. It garnered attention in the underground music scene and established him as a rising star.
