Zachary David Efron, known professionally as Zac Efron, was born on October 18, 1987, in San Luis Obispo, California, to Starla Baskett and David Efron. He has a younger brother, Dylan, and the family moved to Arroyo Grande, California, where Efron spent his formative years. His journey from a small-town boy to a Hollywood superstar is marked by talent, determination, and versatility.
Efron’s upbringing was steeped in creativity. His father, an electrical engineer, and his mother, a former secretary and later a manager at a non-profit organization, fostered a supportive environment for artistic expression. Efron attended Arroyo Grande High School, where he was actively involved in school productions and discovered his passion for acting. He participated in musicals and was inspired by the performances he witnessed, particularly in shows like Les Misérables.
After graduating from high school in 2006, Efron briefly attended the University of Southern California, where he studied film and theater. However, his burgeoning acting career soon took precedence over his education. Efron began his professional career with guest appearances on television shows, including Firefly and ER. In 2004, he landed a recurring role on the hit Disney Channel series Summerland, where he played Cameron Bale.
