Former NBA player and current ESPN commentator Charles Wade Barkley was born in Leeds, Alabama, on February 20, 1963. Barkley is widely regarded as one of the best power forwards in NBA history, and for good reason.

Barkley attended Auburn University and was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 1984 NBA Draft. The Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets were the only two clubs he played for throughout his stellar career. Barkley was a dominant rebounder, prolific scorer, and all-around versatile player.

Barkley was named to the NBA All-Star team 11 times throughout his career and received various awards, including the NBA MVP trophy in 1993. Even though he never won an NBA title, Barkley was admitted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006,
