Former National Hockey League (NHL) goalie Chris Osgood had a great career on the ice. In his time as a goalkeeper with the Detroit Red Wings, Osgood became one of the most successful figures in the franchise’s history. He was born on November 26, 1972, in Peace River, Alberta, Canada.

In 1991, at the NHL Entry Draft, the Detroit Red Wings selected Osgood in the third round. He debuted in the National Hockey League during the 1993–1994 season and immediately became known as a dependable goalkeeper with a composed personality and strong technical abilities. As Mike Vernon’s backup goalkeeper, Osgood was an integral part of the 1997 Stanley Cup-winning Red Wings squad.

Osgood became the starting goalkeeper for the Red Wings in the years that followed, thanks to his steady play and game-winning efforts. He was an integral part of the team’s success, and his contributions were vital in the 1998 and 2008 Stanley Cup victories.
