The Rockies and the Florida Marlins, who are now known as the Miami Marlins, were both formed as Major League Baseball expansion teams in the year 1993. As is typical for expansion clubs, the squad had a difficult time in its first few years of existence, but with time, it progressively gained an advantage over its rivals.

The Rockies made a remarkable run to the playoffs as the National League Wild Card club in only their third season of professional baseball. They were able to proceed to the National League Division Series, but the Atlanta Braves were able to eliminate them. Initially, the team played its games in Mile High Stadium; however, in 1995, they relocated to Coors Field, which is now their permanent home.

The relatively high altitude of the Rockies’ home field, Coors Field, has been one of the most difficult obstacles for the team to overcome.

As a result of the thin air and the unusual meteorological circumstances, both batters and pitchers can have some difficulty. It has been difficult for the Rockies to maintain continuity in their performance since they have seen moments of success that are often followed by times of restructuring. Several formidable clubs, such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, are members of the National League West division.
