The fourth season of the legendary TV western The Virginian, which aired from 1965 to 1966, was the breakout role for American actress Diane Roter. After that, in 1966, she had an appearance in the spin-off series Laredo, which was based on The Virginian, and in 1969, she was a guest star on Family Affair.

From 1959 to 1970, she appeared in films and television shows under the name Danielle Roter. Her present occupation includes writing, acting, directing, criticizing, and covering the arts for a living. She has the credentials of a certified teaching artist. Among her other occupations are those of political organizer, computer tutor, mathematics instructor, writing coach, and performance enhancer. She goes under the name Dani Roter as well.

She was born and raised speaking French. Her ancestors were Jewish Holocaust survivors who fled to America from Europe in the aftermath of the war. While she was a little girl, she picked up the English language. She was born into an acting family that eventually made their home in California, not far from Hollywood. In the early 1960s, her family established the Santa Monica Playhouse.
