Judge Evelyn Padin of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey was born in 1960 and is a New Jersey native and American lawyer. Jersey City, New Jersey is the site of Padin’s birth in 1960.

From Rutgers University, she earned a BA in 1983, Fordham University, an MSW in 1985, and Seton Hall University, a J.D. in 1992. Padin was a social worker in the New York and New Jersey areas from 1985 to 1989, during the time between college and law school.

From 1992 until 1994, Padin was an associate in the Bloomfield, New Jersey, firm Linares & Coviello. She started her criminal defense and personal injury law firm, the Law Offices of Evelyn Padin, in 1995 and served as its senior managing partner. In 1998, Padin presided over Jersey City’s municipal court.

President Joe Biden nominated Padin to be a district judge for the District of New Jersey on November 3, 2021. She received her nomination on December 15, 2021.
