A great professional wrestler from the 1970s and 1980s, Ivan Putski was born Józef Bednarski in Kraków, Poland, on January 21, 1941. Putski became a renowned character in the wrestling world due to his astonishing physique, personable demeanor, and strong in-ring technique.

Polish-born Putski became a wrestling superstar after a successful amateur career in his own country before moving to the US in the 1960s. While in the United States, he persisted in following his dream of being a professional wrestler, and promoters took notice of his exceptional athleticism and natural skill.

After making his professional wrestling debut in the ’60s, Putski swiftly worked his way up the rankings and became known as a formidable opponent. His “Polish Hammer,” a stunning double axe handle that he used to incapacitate his opponents, became his defining technique.
