American-Cameroonian singer Libianca Kenzonkinboum Fonji was born in 2001 but goes by her stage name simply Libianca. “People” (2022), her breakthrough Afrobeats track, is the reason she is most famous. In 2021, she was a contestant on the American version of The Voice.

The year 2001 saw the birth of Libianca Kenzonkinboum Fonji in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While speaking with BBC News Pidgin, Libianca reminisced about her family’s immigration struggles when she was four years old. To avoid deportation, her mother arranged for the family to go to Bamenda, Cameroon.

Libianca went to a boarding school in Bamenda where she picked up guitar skills and sang in gospel choruses as a child. Blake Shelton served as Libianca’s coach on the 21st season of NBC’s The Voice in 2021. Before her elimination, she reached the top 20.
