American singer, songwriter, and record producer Lionel Richie was born on June 20, 1949. Throughout his multi-decade career, Richie has established himself as a significant player in the music business.

Richie rose to prominence in the late 1960s as a member of the Commodores, a Motown R&B group. He was a saxophonist and one of the Commodores’ two principal singers. Therefore, his work can be heard on such classics as “Three Times a Lady” and “Easy.”
