American R&B vocal trio Boyz II Men is legendary for its blockbuster singles, heartfelt ballads, and sultry harmonies. After forming in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the late ’80s, the group became an instant sensation, selling millions of albums across the globe and cementing their place as one of the all-time greats in R&B.

Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Michael McCary were the initial members of the group. Marc Nelson temporarily joined before going solo. Their distinctive sound was born from the combination of classic R&B with doo-wop, gospel, and new jack swing, which they crafted as a trio.

When Boyz II Men’s 1991 first album, “Cooleyhighharmony,” came out, they instantly became famous. Tracks like “Motownphilly,” which featured the album’s main single, demonstrated the group’s silky singing and complex harmonies. The single “Cooleyhighharmony” became Boyz II Men a Grammy winner for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and it went on to sell millions of copies.
