The Australian city of Sydney is the site of Emma Lung’s birth on January 14, 1982. She sought out professional instruction to refine her skills after developing a love for performing at an early age. Lung went to Sydney High School and then earned a BA in acting from the esteemed National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

Emma Lung got her start in the industry playing little parts in movies and TV shows in Australia. She first appeared on Australian television in the 1999 medical drama “All Saints,” and she has since guest starred on “White Collar Blue” and “Marshall Law,” among others. “My Brother Jack” (2001) and “Peaches” (2002) were two more films in which Lung had supporting roles.

Robert Connolly’s 2004 Australian love movie “Three Dollars,” in which Lung co-starred with Heath Ledger, was her breakout performance. She was a breakout star in Australia’s film business when her portrayal as Heath Ledger’s character’s love interest, Amanda, won her rave reviews.
