Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane and who was born on September 29, 1994, is a musician from the United States. Among her many accolades are three Billboard Music Awards, one American Music Award, three Grammy Award nominations, and a Billboard Women in Music Award, all for her unusual singing voice.

She was named one of the 100 most powerful people in the world in 2020 by Time magazine. New Jersey was Halsey’s home from birth. She became famous after releasing songs on social media sites independently; in October of 2014, she signed with Astralwerks to produce Room 93, her first extended play (EP). The year 2015 saw the release of Badlands, her first studio album.

All three singles from the album—”Colors,” “Gasoline,” and “New Americana”—were subsequently certified double platinum by the RIAA. “New Americana” was her first single to reach the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 60. Halsey and The Chainsmokers collaborated on the 2016 track “Closer” which gained 14× platinum certification from the RIAA and topped the charts in 10 countries, including the US.
