It was in the ’50s and ’60s when American singer and actress Joan O’Brien first gained widespread attention. O’Brien showed early promise as an actor and singer after being born on February 14, 1936, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She followed her heart into the entertainment industry, where her charisma, good looks, and acting chops brought her widespread renown.

When O’Brien inked a deal with Universal Pictures in the late 1950s, she officially launched her acting career. She first appeared on screen in the 1959 comedy “Operation Petticoat,” which co-starred Tony Curtis and Cary Grant.
