American actress June Lockhart, who was born on June 25, 1925, has been acting since the 1930s and 1940s when she appeared in films including Meet Me in St. Louis and A Christmas Carol. Her main acting roles were in television, stage, and cinema productions throughout the 1950s and 1960s. She had motherly roles in Lost in Space and Lassie, two TV shows.

Additionally, from 1968 to 1970, she was the voice of Dr. Janet Craig on the CBS comedy series Petticoat Junction. Among her many accolades are two nominations for the Emmy and a Tony. She has been an actress for over 90 years, making her one of the few performers from Hollywood’s Golden Age who are still alive today. In 1938, Lockhart made her big screen debut co-starring with her parents in a film adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Her other film credits include Sergeant York, Meet Me in St. Louis, All This, Heaven Too, and The Yearling, among others. She had a pivotal part in Son of Lassie (1945), an idea that she elaborated upon extensively in the Lassie TV series, which aired over a decade later. In the 1946 production of She-Wolf of London, she played the lead role.

Lockhart made her theatrical debut as Mimsey in the Metropolitan Opera production of Peter Ibbetson when she was eight years old. Her 1947 role in For Love or Money propelled her to stardom, separating her from her famous parents and establishing her as “a promising movie actress in her own right.” There was a story that started, “June Lockhart has burst on Broadway with the suddenness of an unpredicted comet.”
