Peso Pluma, whose real name is Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, is a Mexican musician who came into this world on June 15, 1999. As he honed his guitar skills in his early teens, he drew inspiration from traditional Mexican music to compose original compositions. His previous two studio albums, Ah y Qué?(2020) and Efectos Secundarios (2021), were only moderately successful.

The 2022 single “El Belicón” by Pluma and Raul Vega sold 480,000 copies and earned the RIAA’s 8× Platinum Latin classification. He continued his successful career with the extended play Sembrando and the controversial duet “Siempre Pendientes” with Luis R. Conriquez, which garnered 5×Platinum Latin certification and made it into the Billboard Global 200.

With the help of TikTok, his songs “PRC” and “AMG” (co-written with Gabito Ballesteros) by Natanael Cano reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and were enormous successes among Latin music fans. Eventually reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100, “Ella Baila Sola” by Pluma and Eslabon Armado achieved history in April as the first regional Mexican single to do so.

The song’s commercial success catapulted the singer to international stardom; during the week of April 29, 2023, eight of her songs charted on the Hot 100, becoming her the most prolific Mexican artist with Spanish-language singles in the United States. As 2023 came to a close, Spotify announced that the song had become the fifth most streamed song in the world.
