An accomplished American character actor, Silas Weir Mitchell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 30, 1969. He has a reputation for playing a wide variety of parts on screen. He was a third grader in a school performance of “Hansel and Gretel” when he first became interested in acting; he grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

After finishing his education at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, Mitchell went on to attend The Montgomery Country Day School. Before earning his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego, he attended Brown University, where he studied religion and drama (Wikipedia) (The Famous People).

TV programs like “The Marshal” and “Silk Stalkings” were Mitchell’s first acting gigs in 1995. Among his many guest appearances on hit TV series include “24,” “Numb3rs,” “CSI: Miami,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Dexter,” and “The Closer.” Acting as the mentally ill Charles “Haywire” Patoshik on “Prison Break” (2005–2007) and the character Donny Jones on “My Name Is Earl” (2005–2009)​are his most famous roles.

In 2011, Mitchell secured a substantial part as Monroe on the NBC series “Grimm,” in which she played a transformed Blutbad—a werewolf-like creature—who aided the protagonist in navigating a realm teeming with legendary creatures. He got a lot of praise for this part, and it gave him the chance to play characters with complicated relationships.
