American baseball player Roland Thomas “Sonny” Jackson played shortstop and outfield for the Houston Colt. 45s / Astros (1963–1967) and the Atlanta Braves (1968–1974). Jackson was born on July 9, 1944. The 1966 season was Jackson’s best in the National League with 160 hits, including 27 sacrifice hits. In 1969, he was an integral part of the Braves’ National League Western Division winning efforts.

Throughout his 12-season career, he appeared in 936 games and recorded the following statistics: 3,055 at-bats, 396 runs, 767 hits, 81 doubles, 28 triples, 7 home runs, 162 RBI, 126 stolen bases, 250 walks,.251 batting average,.308 on-base percentage,.303 slugging percentage, 925 total bases, 57 sacrifice hits, 17 sacrifice flies, and 11 intentional walks.
