American former MLB third baseman, coach, and current Texas Rangers front office official Steven Bernard Buechele was born on September 26, 1961. The Texas Rangers, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Chicago Cubs were among Buechele’s teams he played for from 1985 to 1995.

After winning the Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year award in 1985, he became a member of the Rangers. With Dean Palmer’s rise to prominence, the Rangers moved him to the Pirates in 1991. For his ninth season with the Rangers, he made a triumphant comeback in 1995.

In 1991, he had a breakout season, hitting 267 with 18 home runs, 66 RBI, and a then-MLB-record.991 fielding percentage at third base, thanks to only three mistakes. He batted a career-high. 246 in 31 games with the Pirates, but he still set new personal bests in slugging percentage, runs scored, home runs, RBI, and hits.

While playing for Pittsburgh in the 1991 National League Championship Series against the Atlanta Braves, he also had his lone appearance in the playoffs, hitting 304. In his career, Buechele has hit 137 home runs, driven in 547 runs, and has a fielding percentage of.971. Solo home runs were a hallmark of Buechele’s career.
