American actor Xander Berkeley has been working steadily for nearly 40 years in a wide variety of film and television roles. He spent his formative years in New Jersey after being born Alexander Harper Berkeley on December 16, 1955, in Brooklyn, NY. While in Massachusetts, Berkeley studied political science and drama at Hampshire College.

In the early 1980s, Berkeley made his film debut, and he quickly became known as a dependable and charismatic character actor. Both “Mommie Dearest” (1981) and “Sid and Nancy” (1986) included him in his early acting career. But it was his role as a police officer in the phenomenally successful thriller “Heat” (1995) that catapulted him to stardom.
