British multi-talented actor, producer, director, and musician Idris Elba was born in Hackney, London, on September 6, 1972. Elba is one of the most accomplished and famous names in Hollywood thanks to his extensive career in cinema, TV, and music.

A daughter of Sierra Leonean Winston Elba and Ghanaian Eve Elba, Idrissa Akuna Elba was born. The difficulties of being a working-class child in East London were never far from his mind. Elba dropped out of school when he was a teenager to pursue acting, although he had previously attended many East London institutions, including the Anna Scher Theatre School.
