The Florida city of Tampa is the site of Sarah Catharine Paulson’s birth on December 17, 1974. Her father, sports writer Douglas Lyle Paulson II, and mother, waitress Catharine Gordon, brought her up. In New York City, Paulson followed her acting dreams by enrolling in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Paulson made her stage debut in the mid-1990s, playing small parts in off-Broadway musicals and TV cameos. She began her career in the feature film industry with the comedy-drama “Levitation” (1997) and went on to star in several films and TV shows.
