In addition to his work as an actor and stuntman, Sven-Ole Thorsen is a former professional bodybuilder from Denmark. He was born on September 24, 1944. His work in Hollywood films, particularly those starring dominant male roles, has brought him the most fame.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Thorsen had great success in the realm of competitive bodybuilding, where he started his career. During his heyday, Thorsen’s towering stature—at 6 feet 5 inches and more than 300 pounds—attracted the attention of filmmakers and helped him break into the entertainment world.

Before attracting the attention of Hollywood filmmakers, Thorsen began his acting career in the early 1980s with little parts in Danish films. Quickly, he started getting parts in big movies, usually as intimidating villains, bodyguards, or henchmen. Particularly noteworthy were Thorsen’s roles in films directed by John Milius, such as “Red Sonja” (1985) as the antagonist Lord Brytag and “Conan the Barbarian” (1982) as Thorgrim, a henchman of Thulsa Doom.
