Born in Los Angeles, California, on October 29, 1972, Tracee Ellis Ross is more often known as Tracee Joy Silberstein. Diana Ross, an iconic singer and actress, and Robert Ellis Silberstein, a manager in the music industry, are her parents. Ross had early exposure to the entertainment world as she grew up in the shadow of her famous mother.

After finishing high school at New York City’s Dalton School, Ross went on to study theatrical arts at Brown University, where she earned a degree in 1994. While at Brown, she was an active member of the theater department and had many acting roles, which helped her hone her craft. Ross started her career in show business after finishing college.

She began her career in modeling and then moved into acting. “The Dish” (2001) and “Hanging Up” (2000) were among Ross’s many appearances in the ’90s film and television industry.
