Steve Rogers came into this world in the Big Apple on July 4, 1920. The Great Depression was a tough time for him as a child. Although Rogers was a weak and ill young man, he was fiercely patriotic and had a strong sense of right and wrong. Attempting to join during WWII, Rogers received many rejections based on his physical restrictions.

A scientist involved with the government’s “Super-Soldier” program, Dr. Abraham Erskine, took notice of Rogers’s resolve. The experimental procedure’s stated goal was to produce the ideal soldier, and Rogers was chosen as its test subject. Following an injection of “Super-Soldier Serum” and exposure to “Vita-Rays,” Rogers experienced a remarkable metamorphosis, attaining superhuman levels of strength, agility, and stamina.

Steve Rogers became known as Captain America after the Super-Soldier program was a smashing success. Captain America, clad in a patriotic outfit and equipped with an almost impervious shield, became a symbol of liberation and optimism during WWII. Evildoers like the Red Skull and the Nazis were among the oppressive forces he battled.

Modern times saw the resurrection of Captain America, who had been dormant for decades due to ice. In addition to Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk, he became a founding member of the Avengers superhero team. Captain America persisted in protecting the globe from evildoers and other dangers as an Avengers member.
