Bob Sweeney is a businessman and former professional ice hockey player. He was born on January 25, 1964, in Concord, Massachusetts. His love of the game and his success at several levels of competition led to his selection by the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 1982 Entry Draft.

It all started for Bob Sweeney when the Boston Bruins picked him into the National Hockey League. Throughout his career, he was a mainstay up front for the Bruins, where his dependability and dedication earned him a reputation as an invaluable asset. He was a part of the squad from around the middle of the 1980s to about the beginning of the 1990s.

Among Sweeney’s many prominent NHL stops were with the New York Islanders and the Buffalo Sabres. Because of his work with these squads, he became known as a hard worker and versatile player. His versatility as an offensive and defensive player was a strength throughout his career.

Bob Sweeney shifted into some positions within the hockey world after hanging up his skates. The Boston Bruins organization was still very much a part of his life. Specifically, he became the Boston Bruins Foundation’s Director of Development. In this function, he was instrumental in projects for community development and outreach.
